Manlius Pebble Hill School is first to install solar panels in DeWitt (VIDEO)

DEWITT, NY – Students at Manlius Pebble Hill School are getting a lesson on the environment outside the classroom.

Last week, more than a hundred solar panels were installed on the Bradley Building. The school is the first in the DeWitt area to have solar panels installed. They cost $170,000.

The interim head of the school says the daily curriculum includes environmental education and the students are excited to have the panels and be able to learn about them.

“These kids are so forward thinking anyway. And the families that are in our school community really want the kids to again, they will inherit the earth and they will be the next stewards of our earth and they will be well prepared to do that,” said Interim Head of School Tracy Frank.

NYSERDA and the company Solar Liberty provided the funding for the project.
