EGGERTSVILLE, NY – The Solar Project at the Eggertsville Fire Hall has been completed and the system is now producing electricity. This 30kW system has 3 components. The first consists of 140 Photovoltaic Modules mounted on the flat roof above the truck bays. The PV Modules are oriented 10 degrees from horizontal, facing south. The Modules are connected in series. The second component is the Roof Racking System with dimensions and orientation for the installation of the PV Modules. Finally, an Inverter, located in the electrical room, converts the electricity from DC to AC.

This Project was made possible by a grant from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), They provided 80 percent of the funding for this project. The Eggertsville Fire District financed the remainder.

The system has a power output warranty for 25 years. The annual electrical offset associated with this PV system is 20.43 percent. The payback for the system is estimated between 5 and 7 years.
