WHAT IS O&M?
O&M stands for Operations and Maintenance, or the functions, duties and labor associated with the operations and normal repairs, replacement of components, and other activities needed to preserve an asset so that it continues to provide acceptable services and achieves its expected life.
With Solar Liberty’s O&M services, we will continue to optimize your system to ensure maximum system performance and inverter up-time. In addition, if you purchased your solar system through Solar Liberty, it may be possible to extend your system’s workmanship warranty with an O&M package.
WHY IS O&M IMPORTANT?
Even with system and part warranties, it does not mean your solar PV system is immune to risks, such as system degradation and other external factors. O&M ensures that your solar PV system is running optimally throughout the years, and that all part and system warranties are properly maintained. O&M services through Solar Liberty provide peace of mind, knowing that your system is running in optimal condition, while being maintained by one of the oldest and most experienced firms.
WHAT MAKES SOLAR LIBERTY DIFFERENT?
Solar Liberty’s dedicated team provides ongoing O&M services for over 3,000 solar installations. Through continuing education and research, our team is always up to date on the latest operations and maintenance standards.
Solar Liberty requires no less than 3 years of hands-on solar installation experience before an employee can perform O&M duties. Our Safety Officer is an OSHA 500 certified instructor who requires that all field staff is OSHA 30 certified. During training sessions, our Safety Officer reviews equipment manuals to ensure we are prepared to address your system’s specific needs.
HOW DO YOU MANAGE LARGE SOLAR PORTFOLIOS?
For large O&M portfolios, Solar Liberty uses process automation and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMSs) to prioritize work orders, assign them to technicians, update spare parts stocks, and more.
Our service team uses Oracle’s CMMS to manage service agreements, set up service dates, and track obligations. Our technicians receive annual service alerts well in advance of scheduled maintenance to ensure all tasks are being performed on time.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THERE IS AN UNEXPECTED LOSS OF PRODUCTION?
We realize that even with regular service, it does not mean a solar array is immune to risks. If contracted for site monitoring and additional maintenance services, Solar Liberty will configure system alarms through monitoring software to notify our team in instances of inverter failure, data communication interruptions and system underperformance. Monitoring software uses algorithms to calculate the ratio of measured power to the expected power and can quickly interpret the overall health of the PV system.
If a system optimization issue occurs that cannot be solved remotely, Solar Liberty’s field technicians will be immediately deployed to the site.
HOW MUCH DO O&M PACKAGES COST?
The cost of an O&M package depends on the system size, length of the contract, and services required. Solar Liberty offers standard packages, with optional add-on services, such as a second annual visit, site mowing, tree trimming, panel cleaning, and more. Our standard O&M package includes analyzing the system along with annual preventative inspections to provide reliability.
