Solarize Program Offers Limited-Time Discounts of Up to 30%
Launch Event Set for March 8

Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y. — The dream of simple, clean, and affordable solar energy can be a reality for Croton-on-Hudson thanks to Solarize Westchester. Solarize Westchester has selected the Village of Croton-on-Hudson to participate in this unique solar discount program that makes installing solar systems simpler and more affordable for residents and businesses. Homeowners and commercial property owners are invited to a workshop on March 8, 2018 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Stanley H. Kellerhouse Municipal Building, 1 Van Wyck Street, where they can learn about the opportunity to go solar through the program.

With its distinctive model, Solarize Croton encourages increased adoption of quality solar systems by offering lower installation costs through economies of scale. A vetted, competitively selected solar contractor offers group discounts while residents perform extensive community outreach and education to create awareness and build interest. Finally, a clear end date ensures residents act quickly and remain motivated.

After a thorough pre-qualification and competitive application process, representatives of Croton-on-Hudson, with the assistance of Solarize Westchester, have selected Solar Liberty as the designated solar contractor for Solarize Croton. Homeowners who sign up for solar installations by June 4, 2018 will be able to take advantage of group rates significantly below market prices! Attractive financing options are also available. Commercial property owners can sign up for site visits until June 4 and have until October to sign a contract.

Mayor Brian Pugh commented, “I am proud that the Village of Croton-on-Hudson has been selected for a second time to participate in the Solarize Westchester program. This is a great opportunity for our residents to take advantage of affordable solar power and add to the value of their homes. As we are asked to think globally and act locally, I urge our community to join in this grassroots effort against climate change.”

Prior Solarize Westchester campaigns have averaged 45 signed contracts per campaign and Solarize Croton is expected to be equally successful. The Solarize Croton campaign is part of the latest round of Solarize Westchester, a public-private partnership designed to make residential and small commercial solar energy systems more accessible and affordable for homeowners and commercial property owners in Westchester County. In three previous rounds, Solarize Westchester ran a total of eleven Solarize campaigns in partnership with twenty municipalities. So far, the program has resulted in close to 500 solar installations totaling almost 5 megawatts of installed capacity.

Current Solarize Westchester campaigns are being offered to Westchester communities by Sustainable Westchester, a non-profit organization of which Croton-on-Hudson is a member. Technical support is provided by New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) under Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s NY-Sun initiative, which is a $1 billion investment in solar power through 2023 to significantly expand solar installations. The program is administered by Abundant Efficiency.
