Renewable energy presents plenty of opportunities, providers say

Business First’s initial Renewable Energy Companies List has a well-known name at the top, but it’s a list that could look far different in coming years.
The New York Power Authority easily took the top spot, with 312 local employees dedicated to renewable energy operations. Eight total respondents – about 44 percent of the firms represented on the Business First Energy Companies List – have at least some of their workforce devoted to solar, hydro and other renewable sources.
Improvements to the battery technology of solar energy units and price reductions are helping expand the reach of renewable energy sources even more, respondents said.
“Renewable energy will soon become mainstream based on economics, technical innovation and recognition, and its importance in national security,” said Rob Gauchat of Solar Liberty.
