Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW) –
Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Friday, New York will spend $1.5 billion to create 40,000 clean energy jobs by 2020. Cuomo also wants solar usage to double by the end of 2018.

The announcement was in direct response to President Donald Trump’s decision to remove the United States from the Paris Climate Accord.

The goal for New York is for half of the state’s energy to be renewable by 2030, something the governor thinks will create jobs. President Trump believes removing environmental regulations will do the same.

Representatives from Solar Liberty, the leading solar provider in the state, say state decisions tend to have a larger impact on their business compared to federal action.
