Solar Liberty Brings Affordable Solar to Western New York
with the Brighter Western New York Initiative
Buffalo, NY – In an effort to bring affordable solar to the Western New York Region, Buffalo-based Solar
Liberty introduces the Brighter Western New York program today. “The Brighter WNY initiative
represents the largest local effort to make solar energy affordable to homeowners in Western
New York,” said Adam K. Rizzo, President and CEO of Solar Liberty. “This community-based initiative
is designed to give neighbors the power to make a difference in their community.”
Solar Liberty will kick off the Brighter Western New York program at Daemen College on
Wednesday – March 12, 2014, the first of four scheduled community events at the college. The
public is invited to attend ‘Brighter Western New York @ Daemen College’, where Solar Liberty
will discuss how solar works, the benefits of ‘going green’, annual savings, solar grants and tax
incentives. All Brighter WNY attendees will receive group discounted pricing in a tiered pricing
structure that is based on the total number of homeowners that sign up. The more homeowners
that sign up, the more everyone saves. Monthly Brighter WNY community events will be held
throughout 2014, with dates, places and times to come.
Solar Liberty Vice President Nathan Rizzo said, “An educational program like Brighter Western
New York has been my goal for a many years. Solar is now affordable for every homeowner
and it requires no out of pocket expense. Solar is the only viable technology that allows
homeowners to gain independence from their electric bill.”
With a cumulative capacity of 247MWs worth of solar arrays, New York State ranks 9th
in solar power production. In 2013, 10731 (69.4MW) homeowners went solar, there
are now more solar installations in New York State than New York City taxi cabs.
